The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro was unveield at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show and will go on sale in

early 2012.This new exclusive model will be the fastest and most powerful and technological advanced Camaro model ever produced.

The Camaro ZL1 is powered by a LSA 6.2L supercharged engine capable of 550 hp (410 kW) and matched with a six-speed manual transmission with a dual-disc clutch system.

Among the technological highlights are the Magnetic Ride Control system and a high-performance brake system developed in collaboration with Brembo.

The exterior design features a number of aerodynamic enhancements and a new front-end, with a redesigned fascia and a new aluminum hood, that integrates air extractors and a raised vented hood insert made of carbon fiber and finished in satin black.

The look is completed by the new rocker panels, rear spoiler and diffuser and wide tires mounted on 20-inch wheels.

The cabin is characterized by a redesigned steering wheel, alloy pedals, Head-Up Display with new gauges and a Boston Acoustics premium audio system. The front seats feature microfiber suede inserts.

A rear camera system (displayed in the inside rearview mirror) is also available.

The ZL1 name is derived from the all-aluminum racing engine developed in the late 1960s and installed into a limited series of just 69 regular-production 1969 Camaros.

GM Vice President of Global Design Ed Welburn has commented: “Everything about the ZL1’s design is directly related to its technology and serious performance, especially aerodynamics.”

“Our designers’ goal was to execute that function-oriented design with beautifully sculpted forms, creating an imposing, powerful persona. Function becomes the aesthetic. The intent is a car that delivers on the attitude it projects.”
